Lorna Fraser
Biografía
Estudió cerámica en la Escuela de Arte Grays en Aberdeen, donde se graduó en 1984 y ha sido ceramista desde entonces, trabajando desde su estudio en Edimburgo.
Ha expuesto ampliamente en Escocia como en el internacional, y es un miembro profesional de la Asociación de Alfareros del arte y de la Sociedad de Artistas de Escocia.
Su Obra
La inspiración de sus trabajos proviene del mundo de las plantas. Toma elementos de diferentes partes de las plantas - en particular los lirios de agua - para crear sus propios híbridos. Su trabajo explora la calidad escultórica de las plantas a la vez que trata de capturar su vulnerabilidad y la sensualidad.
El efecto de la luz y las sombras son una parte integral de la obra y en el último año he introducido una paleta monocromática que hace hincapié en la transferencia de la luz natural a través de porcelana translúcida de color blanco puro en relación con la densidad de la porcelana negra. Un desarrollo más reciente ha sido el uso de técnicas de grabado para añadir imágenes de plantas como decoración de la superficie.
Otra de las intenciones de la artista es que el trabajo pueda sentarse cómodamente, ya sea en un entorno escultórico o funcional.
